Standing beside communities in times of need
Yasashi Foundation responds to communities affected by flooding with essential relief, compassion, and support.
4 Aug 2026
Yasashi Foundation conducted a flood relief drive on 4th and 5th August 2026 to support flood-affected communities in Sivasagar district, Assam. The initiative was undertaken in response to the severe flooding that affected several villages in the region, causing significant loss and hardship for families.
Our team travelled approximately 300 kilometres from Guwahati, accompanied by six dedicated volunteers. After a long journey, the team reached Jorhat on 4th August, where we stayed overnight due to the distance and travel conditions. Early the following morning, the team proceeded towards the affected communities in Nimajian, where relief distribution was carried out across three villages.
Essential relief materials were distributed to 200 flood-affected families, providing them with immediate support during this difficult period. The team interacted with the affected families, witnessed the challenges they were facing, and offered not only essential supplies but also compassion, encouragement, and reassurance that they were not alone.
The relief drive was made possible through the collective efforts of volunteers, donors, well-wishers, and supporters. Assamese actor Kopil Bora accompanied the team and extended his support and encouragement to both the volunteers and affected families. The Foundation also expresses its gratitude to the Early Childhood Association of India and Chinmoy Phukan Sir, Comissioner Guwahati Municipal Corporation for their valuable support.
After completing the distribution, the team began its return journey in the afternoon after lunch. Despite the long and challenging journey, the volunteers remained committed to completing the journey safely and reached Guwahati at approximately 1:00 a.m. on 5th August 2026.
The flood relief drive was not merely a distribution exercise but an effort to stand beside communities during a time of crisis. It strengthened our commitment to community service and reminded us of the importance of collective action, compassion, and solidarity in times of need.
Together, we can continue reaching families and communities facing difficult times.
